What we’re looking for:
We are seeking a strategic, experienced, and dynamic Director of HR to join our People Team in India reporting to the VP, People & Impact who resides in the US. The ideal candidate will be a strategic partner with a deep understanding of HR practices and ability to operate in a global, matrixed environment. This role focuses on strategic HR business partnership, people operations, and enhancing employee experience leveraging on experiences in Employee Engagement, Learning & Development, Policy, Compliance, and Legal. This role will be collaborating regularly with global leaders, local leaders, and the global people team. In this role, you will lead people initiatives in India and work closely with global teams and leaders to ensure alignment with overall business objectives. The ability to shift between local and global scopes will be critical to their success. This role will have 1 direct report and 2 matrixed reports. We require the candidate to be in Chennai and work from the Chennai office regularly.
What you'll do:
Strategic HR Planning
- Develop and implement global and local HR strategies that support the business goals, and effectively lead a team to execute.
- Align HR initiatives with global business objectives, stakeholder feedback, compliance requirements, and regional needs.
- Serve as a strategic partner to business units, providing HR insights, solutions, and support to drive performance and achieve business goals.
- Build strong relationships with departmental leaders and stakeholders to understand their business objectives and talent needs.
- Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on HR-related matters, including conflict resolution, disciplinary action, and employee development.
People Operations
- Develop and implement HR policies and procedures in line with legal and regulatory requirements, as well as best practices.
- Conduct regular audits of HR processes and systems to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
- Coordinate and administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and wellness initiatives.
- Utilize internal and external data to stay updated on industry trends and best practices in HR, and recommend enhancements or changes to existing programs and processes.
Talent Management
- Develop and implement both global and local programs to enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention and foster a great place-to-work culture.
- Facilitate performance management processes, including goal setting, performance reviews, and development planning.
- Design and deliver recognition and training programs to enhance employee skills, career growth, and engagement.
What will help you succeed:
- 12-15 years of progressive experience in HR, with a strong background in both generalist functions and business partnering roles
- Demonstrated expertise in HR policies, procedures, and best practices, with a solid understanding of employment laws and regulations.
- Proven track record of building effective relationships with internal stakeholders and influencing business outcomes.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, project management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to gather, interpret, and present HR-related data and metrics.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong collaboration and project management skills with business leaders and global people team.
- Proficiency in HR systems, such as Workday, Lattice, Shareworks, and Google Suite.
- Experience in a global, matrixed organization with a strong understanding of regional HR practices, having a global mindset, and working flexible hours to accommodate global organization.
