ABOUT THE POSITION:
The APAC Tax Director will be a member of the APAC Finance team and will report directly to the APAC CFO and work in close collaboration with the Global Tax team. This highly visible role will be the lead tax operational activity for our business in Australia, India, Philippines, Singapore & Taiwan and must have scope to expand to other jurisdictions within 12 months, demonstrating regional expertise with a strong sense of ownership.
We are looking for a motivated regional tax professional with knowledge of a variety of tax types across APAC. You will ensure compliance with all local tax laws and regulations while implementing tax planning and strategies for our rapidly growing business.
As the International Tax Director, you will:
•Lead the prepartaion and facilitate APAC local tax filings and tax payments across mulitple jurisdictions.
•Transition filings previously prepared outside the region, and or by external tax advisors, and bring that activity inhouse to give full region ownership to tax activity.
•Assist Human Resources with setting up processes to track and accurately report employee related taxes related to bonus compensation, fringe benefits, Personnel movement, Permanent Establishment risks and so forth.
•Collaborate with cross-functional departments and provide tax advise with respect to business expansion, contract negotiation, M&A, cross border transactions and import /export controls.
•Coordinate with our global tax advisors to ensure timely and accurate income tax provision in accordance with local and US GAAP (ASC 740) and other regulations as applicable.
•Provide support to team members on indirect taxes including VAT, GST and consumption taxes
•Monitor, review, document, and improve the withholding tax compliance process.
•Support potential permanent establishment risks in the regions
•Maintain processes and procedures to ensure compliance with the company’s global transfer pricing policies and local documentation requirements.
• Maintain effective control procedures over all otherr aspects of the tax processes.
•Coordinate and manage local tax audits .
•Identify opportunities for process improvement and potential areas of risk
•Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments
REQUIRED SKILLS
•Minimum of 15 years of experience in international tax planning/compliance (industry and public accounting with MNC experience).
•Business or equivalent University degree with a concentration in finance/accounting
•Knowledge and experience with income tax provision calculations/reporting for a public listed company.
•Strong attention to detail with strong problem-solving skills & solution provider with the ability to automate tasks and drive productivity changes.
•Ability to thrive in a performance-focused and results-oriented environment
•Strong project management and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple relationships with outside advisors.
•Must have advanced knowledge of excel and the ability and curiosity to analyse and filter data.
•Excellent written & verbal communication skills
PREFERRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
•CPA or equivalent or JD preferred.
•Knowledge of US GAAP including ASC 740.
•Understanding of transfer pricing principles.
•Knowledge of Netsuite an advantage.
•Energy or energy storage business knowledge is an advantage
•Ideally high energy, proactive, solutions-oriented contributor, possessing an intellectual curiosity and a “hunger for knowledge.”
