In this role, you will be responsible for managing the design, development, specification, and evaluation of ESS Li-ion batteries. You will be a member of a team focused on the specification and evaluation of supplier-developed systems and components and their integration into Fluence stationary energy storage systems. You will define and manage requirements with suppliers and internal partners and be both a technical leader and project manager.

What does a Battery Systems Engineer do at Fluence?

  • Responsible for hardware and software requirements development, working with Core Engineering, Project Management, and Product teams.
  • Lead and Manage battery system supplier development and integration into Fluence Energy Storage Systems including execution of supplier design reviews.
  • Manage and coordinate battery system development and validation testing.
  • Work with project/product management to track and maintain schedule.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the supplier system and solutions to be able to manage and communicate technical risks to the broader Fluence team.

What does the ideal candidate look like?

  • B.S. in Engineering
  • 7+ years in the design and development of high-voltage battery systems.
  • Strong knowledge of system engineering principles.
  • Technical knowledge in a broad area of engineering disciplines (Electrical, Electronics, Controls, Mechanical, Thermal, Materials, Safety, Test/Validation, Manufacturing)
  • Experience with requirements management and test tracking tools. (Jira, Jama, Doors, TestRail, etc.)
  • Ability to utilize data and statistical analyses to make design decisions.
  • Strong technical communication skills.
  • Passion for batteries, sharing know-how, and learning from others.
