Job Description
Director, Project Accounting and Controlling - Energy Sectors is responsible for reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Americas region. This pivotal role involves managing the financial elements of substantial projects to ensure they achieve their financial objectives. Responsibilities encompass complete profit and loss (P&L) management, including revenue, costs, margins, cash flow, reporting, forecasting, internal controls, and oversight of commercial contracts.
The position demands extensive experience in financial management, particularly in infrastructure and construction, with hands-on interaction with Project Financial Managers (PFMs) and other key functions. Effective management skills and clear communication with executive management are essential.
Key responsibilities include:
· Financial Leadership: Responsible for leadership of the financial execution team and driving the financial results of large projects in execution and collaborating with Project Management Directors.
· Financial Oversight: Driving financial results, developing financial forecasts, and ensuring transparency in project reporting.
· Risk and Opportunity Management: Leading efforts to manage risks and seize opportunities and participating in project reviews.
· Compliance and Process Improvement: Maintaining compliance with accounting, tax, and internal controls, and improving financial execution processes.
· Contract Management: Overseeing the execution of commercial terms in contracts.

What will you bring to Fluence?

  • 10-12 years of increasing responsibility for financially managing large projects, preferably in the energy sector, including scopes of engineering, procurement and construction
  • Minimum 5 years managing teams
  • Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. An advanced degree like an MBA may be preferred.
  • Financial management experience specifically in the infrastructure and construction sectors. Experience in a leadership role is crucial.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in financial software, understanding of revenue recognition principles, and experience with financial reporting and forecasting.
  • Management Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team, manage large-scale financial projects, and work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
  • Communication: Strong communication skills for transparent interaction with executive management, internal teams, and external parties like customers and suppliers.
  • Knowledge of Controls: In-depth knowledge of internal controls, accounting standards, and tax regulations.
  • Contract Expertise: Ability to understand and execute contracts according to commercial terms and conditions.
  • Up to 25% travel as needed
