Energy Storage Area Service Manager
Location: (San Diego Metro, CA )
ABOUT THE POSITION:
The primary purpose of the Area Services Manager is to ensure proper execution of Fluence’ service contracts across multiple projects and to manage the Field Service Engineers & Technicians assigned in the area.
As the Area Services Manager, you will:
•Own the safety culture of the team, building on established Fluence safety management system.
•Lead by example to ensure everyone is staying safe and productive; be a point of escalation for the team, and further escalating any roadblocks to develop a safe path forward.
•Own development of the Field Service Engineers & Technicians in the Region.
•Own the service relationship with the customer. Support customer meetings to ensure our efforts are organized, communication is clear and Fluence is being supportive closing open issues.
•Ensure Fluence is meeting our contractual requirements and support closing contract disputes.
•Ensure Field Service Engineers & Technicians perform proper reactive maintenance and adequately planning/performing Preventive Maintenance with quality work records.
•Drive and own O&M Service business performance metrics/KPIs/SLAs for the Area (Availability, Safety, Cost, Quality, etc.).
•Identify and drive service process/cost improvements – be a leader for the team and take on additional focused scope service issues, i.e. contractor/vendor management, spares, reliability, preventive maintenance planning/execution, etc.
•Support the FSE&Ts in managing multiple 3rd party service vendors in the safe execution of O&M services across contracted projects. Think and operate strategically about your service area and region.
•Support FSE&Ts in escalating issues within various operating groups. Drive the team to use existing processes and work to improve them.
•Generate daily/weekly reports and customer-facing after-action reports, notifying key stakeholders of any action items, driving resolution/deliverables
•Verify consistent and thorough execution of reactive/preventative maintenance tasks.
•Develop and Manage the service budget for sites within area managed portfolio.
•Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project maintenance success and alignment with organization objectives.
•Foster relationships with cross-functional teams to facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing.
What will our ideal candidate bring to Fluence?
•Undergraduate degree preferred (BSEE, BSME, BSCE) or Licensed Electrician from a leadership position.
•Experience in bi-directional inverters, HVAC and 1000V/high current DC systems. Bonus if experienced with substations.
•Experience in managing customer and contractor contracts and dispute resolution.
•5 years related experience in electric utility or independent power producer experience within generation / operations / technical teams (Energy Storage, Coal, Gas, Solar, Hydro, Wind).
•Must have experience leading safety efforts in an operational setting and leading it with contractors.
•A desire to help the service group grow and improve. Desire to learn new things. Must be comfortable being in uncomfortable situations for growth.
•Ability to adapt to dynamic conditions and stay focused/execute on goals.
•Experience with setting up POs and managing scopes of work, payments with 3rd party service providers.
•Highly developed interpersonal skills with ability to interface with multiple levels of customer organization.
•Project Management – must be able to handle multiple types of issues at a site and to articulate plans to customer and drive actions to close internally or with contractors.
•Excellent MS Office; SCADA Experience; MODBUS Experience.
•Must be willing to travel frequently to sites within the service area to meet with customers and the Field Service Engineers & Technicians.
•Requires ability to physically bend, stoop, sit, stand, walk, reach, climb ladders/steps, & lift up to 40lbs.
