Fluence is seeking an energetic and experienced Head of Policy for the Americas region focused on North America to support the continued growth of our energy storage products, services, and software for renewables and storage. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in developing and executing policy strategy at the regional and national levels related to the production, sale, and operation of energy storage solutions. This new and exciting position promises a challenging yet rewarding opportunity to lead and shape the policy landscape to promote and speed the energy transition. This role will be based in Arlington, VA, our corporate headquarters.

What does a Senior Director, Policy and Advocacy do at Fluence?

  • Develop and execute policy and regulatory strategies at national and regional levels to shape regulations in favor of energy storage, addressing complex regulations and proposals.
  • Advise leadership on energy storage regulations at local, regional, and national levels and proactively influence policy changes to benefit energy storage solutions.
  • Represent Fluence, foster relationships, and advocate for the company's interests with officials, regulatory agencies, industry groups, and stakeholders.
  • Manage the preparation and submission of necessary regulatory comments and filings.
  • Collaborate with other parts of the company to ensure compliance for customer operations and product development.
  • Offer expertise on environmental and safety regulations to support the execution of Fluence strategy.
  • Manage and collaborate with advisory firms as needed to achieve policy change and related tasks mentioned above.

What does the ideal candidate look like?

  • Undergraduate Degree required; Master’s degree, preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a policy leadership role within the energy sector; direct experience working and partnering with the United States Federal Energy Regulatory Commission is highly desirable.
  • This position requires a deep understanding of policy and regulatory frameworks and extensive knowledge of the US and Canadian energy regulatory environments.
  • Knowledge of business fundamentals/strategies and innovation and their intersection with regulations.
  • People management experience & demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Strong project management skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
  • A team player with a global mindset.
