Location: Hybrid in the Alpharetta/Atlanta area
As the Jr. Commodity Manager, Logistics you will:
•Analyze spend and sourcing markets for logistics services
•Evaluate market conditions and potential suppliers
•Support Sales with logistics pricing during Proposal and Bid phases
•Implement cost saving measures including alternative sourcing and vendor evaluation criteria in line with company strategy
•Own the tactical bid execution on a daily basis
•Support the Logistics operations teams as needed
•Support the negotiation of global and regional purchasing contracts and pricing agreements
•Manage suppliers to adhere to guidelines and compliance initiatives
•Monitor supplier performance and implement supplier improvement plans
•Improve cash flow contribution through payment terms and payment schedules
•Own the supplier payment process, working closely with our global freight auditing provider
•Experience managing a freight audit company is a plus
•Execute supplier selection based on Total Cost of Ownership criteria (incl. quality, reliability, delivery, transport costs, etc.)
•Execute timely and cost-effective resolution of contractual variations with stakeholders and logistics suppliers
•Conduct business review meetings with key suppliers and partners to assess risk, review future strategies, and identify cost down and improvement opportunities.
•Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders

What will our ideal candidate bring to Fluence?

  • You have a bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience or equivalent.
  • 5+ year subject matter experience in logistics.
  • You have strong problem resolution and decision-making skills.
  • You are creative and resourceful, displaying sound judgment and demonstrating accountability.
  • You have a network of contacts within Logistics Service Providers incl. freight forwarders and carriers.
  • You have experience working across a variety of modes from air freight to ocean freight, domestic trucking (FTL especially incl. flatbed) to LTL
  • You have strong analytics and negotiation skills.
  • Project logistics experience a plus
  • You are self-motivated; able to work both independently to complete tasks and respond to requests, as well as collaborating with others to utilize resources and knowledge of others in identifying quality solutions.
  • You enjoy working in an international, fast-pace and dynamic environment.
  • You have strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and suggestions clearly and effectively.
