This position will be within the Fluence Digital business unit. Fluence Digital’s IQ platform uses artificial intelligence, advanced price forecasting, portfolio optimization and market bidding to ensure energy storage and flexible generation assets are optimally participating in wholesale electricity markets.
Fluence Digital is a SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) company with an AI (artificial intelligence) software platform that uses deep learning algorithms to enable strategic, optimized management and trading of complex assets in energy markets globally. We’ve built the most advanced deep neural network management and trading platform specifically designed to enable the real-time, optimized transaction of complex energy assets, including batteries, solar, and wind. We’ve saved our customers millions of dollars in operating costs while also maximizing market revenues and are growing quickly across the globe.

We are looking for a Business Development Manager to join our team. You will be responsible for identifying potential customers, generating new business opportunities, and managing leads through the sales pipeline. You will work closely with the customer success team, Marketing and the Fluence core sales team to meet and exceed your sales goals are met.
We are looking for someone who has excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic, and a proven track record of success in SaaS sales. If you are a self-motivated individual with a passion for strategic sales, we encourage you to apply.
Key role responsibilities include:
· Identify potential customers and generate new business opportunities for the company
. Responsible for closing the sale, setting timelines for implementation, and following up on the agreed timelines.
· Document pain points, issues, and requests expressed by customers
· Map buyers within customer organizations – build an understanding of relationships, delegations of authorities, and roles/ responsibilities
· Track progress towards meeting sales goals
. Represent company at conferences, speaking events and trade shows.
· Collaborate with the sales team to develop strategies for reaching sales targets
· Use customer relationship management (CRM) software in Salesforce to manage leads and sales activities
· Stay up to date on market trends, competition, and industry developments
· Attend networking events and trade shows to build relationships and generate leads – travel could be 25% typically, but closer to 40% of the time as your pipeline opportunities build

What does the ideal candidate bring to Fluence?

  • 5+ years of experience in enterprise SaaS sales or customer service
  • Energy market experience is an asset but not required.
  • Proficiency with customer relationship management (CRM) software
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain executive relationships with buyers and influencers at potential clients.
  • Ability to understand nuanced issues facing customers and communicate them accurately to colleagues.
  • Knowledge of enterprise sales techniques and strategies
  • Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills
  • Time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Entrepreneurship: able to apply creativity to overcome obstacles, leveraging internal and external resources
  • Flexibility and adaptability to change.
  • A desire to learn and grow in the sales field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred but not required.
