ABOUT THE POSITION
Fluence is seeking a Sales Manager to own and develop New Business Segments to expand the energy storage market into exciting new applications. You will be the primary person responsible for transforming emerging new application for energy storage in EMEA. To be successful, you will need to become a trusted advisor to the customer, be entrepreneurial and a self-starter who is excited about rapid growth, be comfortable with technical and commercial topics, and be able to create compelling value propositions and solutions for the customer.
You will be reporting into Fluence`s Director for the Center of Competence, requiring an autonomous and pragmatic individual who has strong experience working in a matrixed and virtual environment, working with multiple stakeholders, on multiple projects/tasks at one time, and as part of a global team.
The Sales Manager of New Business Segments will:
•Serve as the leader inside the company for the development of new business segments starting from the business case and market development activities, up to the development of a sustainable sales pipeline across the EMEA region.
•Be the interface between the product management team and the regional sales teams and a customer facing expert with an in-depth techno commercial understanding of the product and a given segment.
•Be a consultant to the regional deal team for all segment specific requirements and support the sales phase of storage projects in the EMEA region from early customer engagements, through to tender processes or bilateral offers, contract negotiations and finally to successful closing in close collaboration with the regional deal teams.
•Originate sales opportunities and create compelling customer proposals for our energy storage solutions for our customers.
•Autonomously manage an internal team to negotiate and close transactions for energy storage solutions with all technical and commercial aspects with the support of our sales engineers, commercial project managers, legal team and other internal stakeholders.
•Grow and manage a sales pipeline of opportunities to expand and strengthen our market position in these new segments.
•Work with market applications team to understand revenue cases, policy, regulatory or other barriers to energy storage market entry.
•Develop relationships with key customers at multiple level, channel partners, and industry stakeholders.
•Closely align with external partners providing adjacent equipment or services for our integrated storage solutions.
•Support and participate in business development and sales meetings with customer and represent Fluence at industry conferences and other events.
•Maintain, develop, and improve tools (e.g. Salesforce) to support sales efforts and improve sales team efficiency.
What will our ideal candidate bring to Fluence?
The successful candidate will have 5+ years work experience in sales or business development in the energy industry (storage industry preferred). In addition, qualified candidates will have:
•Proven experience in creating new businesses or leading small business units in complex and changing environments.
•Bachelor’s degree in (electrical) engineering. Master’s degree preferred.
•Excellent presentation, communication, negotiations, and interpersonal skills.
•Ability to solve complex technical problems and effectively communicate results.
•Desire to work collaboratively in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
•Track record of taking ownership over responsibilities and pursuing them diligently.
•Ability to understand and synthesize complex technical and product and information.
•Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
•Ability to create productive relationships with customers, colleagues, and external partners.
•Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Proficiency with Salesforce preferred.
•Willing and able to travel, domestically and internationally (expected 30% of time)
•Fluent in written and spoken English . German as an additional language is a plus.
